World Philosophy Forum 2003

 

Humanity and Environment: Cross-cultural Dialogues

 

Beijing, August 2-5, 2003

 

 

To promote the international exchange among scholars from around the world on important issues facing humanity, the editorial board of World Philosophy of the Institute of Philosophy at Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the Philosophy Department of Beijing University, are sponsoring the "World Philosophy Forum." The theme for 2003 is "Humanity and Environment: Cross-cultural Dialogues." The forum will be held in Beijing University on August 2-5, 2003.

The sponsors are here calling for papers related to the main theme of this year’s forum. They may discuss, among others, (1) humanity and environment in Chinese cultural traditions (past, present, and future); (2) humanity and environment in Western and other cultural traditions (past, present, and future); (3) cultural background of and philosophy reflections upon the idea of "sustainable development"; (4) religion and the human/environment relationship; (5) natural exploration and environmental protection in cultural contexts; (6) cross-cultural dialogues and the human/environment relationship.

The forum sponsors forum will provide participants with free room and board during the forum. However, all participants are responsible for their own travel expenses and are required to pay $30 registration fee.

The forum is co-sponsored by Center for Humanities at Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Association of Chinese Philosophers in America, and Global Scholarly Publications in New York City.

 

Submission of Papers

 

For all papers other than those organized by Global Scholarly Publications, please send paper proposals with a brief outline by April 30, and the complete papers of those accepted proposals by July 5, as well as any inquiries regarding the forum to
