Global Scholarly Publications
(GSP): An Introduction
GSP,
a non-profit organized research establishment affiliated with Foundation
for Interreligious Diplomacy, processes organized research for various
international scholarly and religious institutions. In accord with the
basic aims of FID, the primary aspiration of GSP is to contribute to the
global understanding of different cultural traditions through interreligious,
intercultural dialogues. To achieve this goal, GSP organizes and sponsors
conferences around the globe and arranges publications of works that would
otherwise not be widely available, such as English translations of Arabic,
Chinese, Indonesian, Ancient Greek, Persian, Latin, Italian, Hebrew,
Hispanic, and Sanskrit classics. In addition, GSP facilitates the
collaboration of scholars, diplomats, clergy and educators focusing on
authentic and peaceful dialogues about religious and cultural diversities,
which may result in conflict resolutions. GSP draws on the resources of its
members. For example, for thirty years the Society for the Study of Islamic
Philosophy and Science (SSIPS, established in 1970) has collaborated with a
number of scholarly societies in Africana Studies Judaism, Ancient Greek,
Christian, Indic, and East Asian studies in organizing international
conferences on the humanities in the United
States, China
and Turkey.
As an annual forum, these meetings provide an unparalleled opportunity for
engagement with diverse intellectual traditions, their key texts and
expressions, with particular emphasis on ancient and medieval philosophy.
Currently GSP is engaged in expanding its activity with regard to the
Chinese and other East Asian civilizations, with an emphasis on the
classical tradition. GSP continues to promote publications in the areas of
ancient Greek and medieval Christian European philosophy and social
thought, Jewish classics, Africana humanities, Classical Italian and
Sanskrit and Indic thought. Moreover, GSP continuously extends its global
reach to sister societies, having initiated contacts with organizations in
Central Asian, Balkan, and Indonesian studies.

A DISCLAIMER
Due
to its primary mission to provide a neutral international forum for
organized research, GSP’s bylaws and its agreement with FID preclude a commitment to any specific
political, religious or methodological perspective. Consequently, no
collective political, religious, or methodological declaration can underlie
GSP’s activities,
except the peaceful engagement in authentic interreligious and
intercultural dialogue. In this tenor, each publication and each lecture
given at conferences sponsored by GSP expresses the view(s) of (the)
individual scholar(s), not necessarily the view of a member of the
editorial board or the institution affiliated with the participants in GSP’s organized research. Manuscripts
and abstracts submitted to GSP undergo a blind review for which the
editorial board of each series or the organizer of each conference is
responsible. Academic institutions and individual scholars are invited to
join our conferences and to submit texts for publication. Manuscripts and
abstracts submitted to GSP are evaluated for their scholarly content,
irrespective of the political or religious beliefs, national origin, race
or gender of the author(s). GSP has the legal status of Limited Liability
Company as an independent subsidiary of FID. While officers of FID actively
participate in guiding of GSP’s organized research projects, unless declared specifically,
FID and its members are not responsible for GSP’s
activities.
